On the last day of January 2012 we are leaving for a splendid 28 days journey to the colourful country of India. Seven key destinations from the vibrant Mumbai, one of the country’s most important business hub, to India’s northern golden triangle including the cities of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, passing by the idyllic Malabar Coast and the Himalayan town of Rishikesh. Travelling by train, plain, boat, taxi, scooter and rickshaws, whatever it takes to reach the most exciting places. All our adventure will be covered on the Funky India website with complete coverage of the trip including great content, inside stories, static and interactive maps, photographs and documentary videos. - Kerala: Kochi
Mumbai will be our first destination in India, with two nights spent at the New Bengal Hotel right next to the Victoria/CST Station. We should arrive on Wednesday afternoon, perhaps have a quick snooze and hit Chowpatty beach to enjoy a cold Kingfisher. The following day we will be exploring to the key sites within the Fort and Churchgate area in the morning, followed by the Marine Drive and the Malabar Hill in the afternoon.
On the third day we will head south, embarking on a railway journey to Goa, hopefully arriving in the evening to the Renzo Inn in Calangute. We will spend the first two days exploring the northern Goa beaches and charming towns, then another two day near the state capital Panjim and stay at the Hotel Viva Goa International. Finally another two days will be spent on the lovely southern Goa coast within a beach hut of the lovely Cuba Agonda Beach Hotel.
After a week exploring Goa, we will head further south, taking an overnight train to God’s Own Country, the fabulous state of Kerala to discover all its natural beauty. Our first stop will be the northern region, near the quiet town of Kannur and it’s amazing coastline, then another two days in the sought after Kochi fort with the well rated Goodkarma Inn bed and breakfast, and finally spend another couple of nights at the fabulous Beach resort of Abad Harmonia Ayurveda in the splendid Kovalam, known as one of the most idyllic destination in Kerala.
Half way through our journey we will leave the splendid south western coast of India to fly to the Delhi, the country’s capital and one of most important city. We will stay three nights at the Ajanta Hotel next to the busy New Delhi Railway station and discover some of the top sights within the Connaught Place, Old Delhi and Rajpath areas.
After our visit to the Indian capital we will head to the northern state of Uttaranchal and relax a couple nights within the hilltop Hotel Ganesha Inn within the picture perfect town of Rishikesh, known as the Gateway to the Himalayas.

The following three nights will be spend at the Hotel Taj Plaza, only a hundred meters from the Taj Mahal, one of the world’s seven wonders. We also plan to visit the following key attractions including Agra’s Fort, the Akbar’s Tomb and Fatehpur Sikri.
Our last destination on our Funky India journey will be the Pink City of Jaipur, part of the Golden Triangle with neighbouring Delhi and Agra. We will stay at the top rated Chitra Katha Hotel near the main railway station to be close to all of the historic and cultural sights the city has to offer.
